GUIDELINES FOR CHIROPRACTIC SERVICES AT COVID-19 ALERT LEVEL 4
Chiropractors have a duty of care to support their patients during the national COVID-19 crisis and to reduce community spread.
While in COVID-19 Alert Level 3 and 4, providing acute and emergency care chiropractic treatment to New Zealanders is an essential service.
CRITERIA FOR SEEING A PATIENT FACE-TO-FACE
Appointments are to be mainly provided via telehealth (online call).
Please email email@example.com if you require a telehealth appointment.
Under Alert Level 4 some face-to-face appointments may be provided for urgent care appointments.
The Ministry of Health has stated the following criteria for “Urgent care”:
• a condition which is life or limb threatening; OR
• treatment required to maintain the basic necessities of life; OR
• treatment that cannot be delayed or carried out remotely without risk of significant harm or permanent and/or significant disability; AND
• which cannot be delivered by a service which is currently operating or by health professionals that are already in contact with the patient.
If you need urgent care, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will call you to arrange a telehealth consult and if appropriate arrange an appointment.
These measures will remain until further direction from the Government or Ministry of Health.
Chiropractic is a method of hands on treatment with a goal to improve joint function and neural control in the body.
The hands on treatment is commonly applied as spinal adjustments or joint manipulation, where a joint cavitation (pop) is often heard with the application of a high velocity low amplitude (HVLA) thrust, also known as the adjustment. Joint manipulation can also be achieved with Chiropractic adjusting tools such as (but not limited too) the Activator and Drop piece table.
Treatment often focuses on the spinal column however joint manipulation can also be applied to the joints in your extremities. In addition to improving joint function in the spine and extremities other treatments include, soft tissue therapy and guided rehabilitation exercises.
By improving joint function, Chiropractors look to improve the function of your nervous system.
As the brain and nervous system control the body, improvement in its function allows your body to heal itself and perform to its full potential.
